Challenge

Brick manufacturing demands durable and efficient pumping solutions to manage the abrasive materials inherent in the production process. The Toyo pumps are competent players in this field and are appreciated for their effective handling of abrasive mixtures. However, a quest for even greater efficiency, longevity, and cost savings led a brick manufacturing plant to Vaikon. While their submersible Toyo ET-7.5B-2 pump effectively managed the plant’s initial requirements, its lifespan was only 4 to 6 months, and ongoing costs began to weigh on operational efficiency. Recognizing these challenges, the plant sought a solution that could retain the initial pump’s operational effectiveness but with enhanced service life.

Solution

Vaikon’s response was the Minto Spyro MML100-0600-S4 submersible pump. This pump, selected for its robust design and superior handling of abrasive conditions due to its high-chrome wear parts and agitator, represented not just an alternative but a significant upgrade. Our customer soon validated this confidence; a check-up six months after installation revealed the Minto pump in excellent shape, displaying only minimal wear symptoms. This was a promising indicator of its outstanding durability and reliability. On top of that, Vaikon maintains a large stock of spare parts and replacement units for these pumps at all times, guaranteeing customer continuity and operational stability.

Result

Over 12 months of operation, the Minto pump continued to function flawlessly, significantly outlasting the initial pump’s 4-6 month lifespan, much to our customer’s satisfaction. This performance underscored the pump’s capacity to reduce maintenance demands and operational costs, marking a new era of efficiency and longevity in the plant’s operations.

Switching to the Minto pump transformed the plant’s operational efficiency, doubling the previous pump’s lifespan and drastically cutting maintenance costs in the abrasive environment of brick manufacturing.
