Compact but powerful
Two 7.5 kW pumps delivering up to 90 m³/h each
High static lift (±12 m)
System overcomes high head and friction losses without oversizing
Rails and autocoupling
Easy removal without entering the pit, allows for smooth maintenance jobs
Redundant control system
Two floats per pump plus an alarm float for extra safety. The control system is managed with a Vigilec ZERO Drain box.
Future proof
Third pump position ready for future expansion
Challenge
Rainwater from the roof of a large industrial hall had to be collected in a small underground tank (Ø3.4 × 1.7 m) and transferred to a buffer tank next to the pit for reuse in the production process.
The system needed to handle peak rainfall based on a 10-minute storm with a 5-year return period, which meant a flow of 2 × 78.5 m³/h.
We had to include a third pump slot to allow future capacity expansion if site demands increase. The system needed to overcome 12 m of static lift plus piping losses, so lightweight pumps were not an option.
Solution
We installed two Minto Gyrox MSB100-0750-S4 submersible pumps, each with a capacity of ±90 m³/h and a 7.5 kW motor.
To simplify maintenance, each pump was mounted on a stainless steel guide rail system with an elbow connection and autocoupling base, allowing them to be lifted without entering the pit.
A float switch system (managed by a Vigilec ZERO Drain box) controls the pumps:
- High water level = pump starts
- Low water level = pump stops
- An additional float acts as an alarm trigger when the water rises too high
We designed the system to overcome:
- A static lift of 12 m (3 m pit + 9 m tank)
- Additional dynamic losses from piping, 90° bends, a reducer, a check valve, and 22 meters of HDPE piping
All within a compact footprint.
Result
The compact pumping station now operates smoothly, automatically transferring rainwater from the roof without hassle. The robust rail system allows for quick servicing, and the control logic ensures full autonomy. All infrastructure is in place for future expansion, adding a third pump later won’t require breaking concrete or modifying the pit.
