Over 100 meters of HDPE pressure piping
We installed five welded lines (DN 250 to DN 355) from the pit to the buffer tank.
Three active pumps, five-line setup
Two extra lines are fully prepared for future pump installation.
Flowmeter on each line
Siemens FM520 for real-time monitoring and diagnostics.
Stainless steel guide rails and auto coupling
Safe and fast pump removal during maintenance.
Automatic level control
A float-based activation system manages storm response without manual input.
Challenge
To deal with heavy rainfall on a 5-hectare industrial site, our client required a pumping setup capable of handling 1540 m³/h, enough to process a 10-minute storm with a 2-year return period. The civil works were already in place: a 6-meter-deep concrete pump pit and an above-ground retention basin.
Our task was to design and install the complete system, encompassing pumps, piping, flow monitoring, and controls.
The installation needed to be modular, easy to maintain, and ready for future expansion to 2800 m³/h without disrupting the site again.
Solution
We installed three Minto Gyrox MSB submersible pumps:
- 2× MSB200-2200-S4 (280 m³/h each)
- 1× MSB300-5500-S4 (980 m³/h)
To connect these to the buffer tank, we laid five separate HDPE pressure pipelines (DN250/300/355, SDR 17). Each line runs 20 meters, totaling over 100 meters of pressure piping, all of which is welded and installed on-site.
Three of these lines are now in use. Each includes:
- A Siemens FM520 electromagnetic flowmeter (DN250 or DN350)
- An inline ball check valve
The pumps are installed on stainless steel guide rails with an autocoupling base, allowing for quick removal and servicing without entering the pit. A float-based sensor system automatically activates the pumps based on the water level. We also handled all on-site cabling, flowmeter setup, and commissioning.
Result
Within a few days, the system was up and running, ready to handle 1540 m³/h during storm events. The spare pipelines are capped and prepared for future pump installation, allowing the client to scale to 2800 m³/h when needed, without any additional groundwork.
The modular design, live flow monitoring, and easy access ensure long-term reliability with minimal hassle.
